The Children of Huang Shi and Married Life

Yesterday I happened to see both "The Children of Huang Shi" and "Married Life" in a row in the same theater!

I was prepared for David's brief appearance in the CoHS, but I think what he did was great. I always wonder why he chooses these kind of minor roles. Nevertheless he always acts as if he's playing the leading part.
On the whole it was a wonderful movie. I've never been a big fan of Jonathan Rhys Meyers, but I think he was great as George Hogg, the journalist who saves a group of orphaned children during the Japanese occupation of China in 1937.

I was more looking forward to Married Life. I knew David would appear in one scene bare chested and OH MY - what scene it was! *drools*
It was obviously filmed right after 300! Those muscles! *thud*
The film was very funny at times. Especially in one particular scene David made me laugh.
He had a few, but important scenes and I think what he did was top of the line!
It's obvious people think David is a chameleon, no film he's playing in is the same.

Thanks to miwa here's a picture of David in Married Life, playing charades.
Isn't he gorgeous! *thud*

New Project

I'm so excited!!!!!
David Wenham has been confirmed to play the male lead in a new movie: probably together with "our" Carice van Houten.

. . . Australian actor David Wenham, most famous for his role as Faramir in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, has been confirmed as the male lead and producers are currently in negotiations with Dutch actress Carice van Houten;
Mr Scott said he expects to sign her contract soon, "she loves the script." . . .

It's an international production with filming locations such as Wellington, Berlin and Amsterdam!
Supposed the news is true, I can only hope he will come to Amsterdam. The very thought of having him so close to me ..... *sigh*

So please keep your fingers crossed for me! :-)

Eeeek, I think I've missed your birthday [info]nyttforsok *hangs head in shame*
Well, that is to say I had no idea it was your birthday.

Anyway here's David who wants to tell you something personally! ;-)

I hope your birthday was enjoyable. Did you happen to persuade David to come over to your place? *g*

I just found this long video of the making of the ballroom scene from the Children of Huang Shi.

It’s mostly with David and I wonder if this is going to be his only appearance. From what I've heard his role seems to be nothing but a small, memorable part.

Time will tell …

David stamps

Our national postal services offered the possibility to create stamps for personal use. So I took this opportunity to make my own David stamps.
Well, here they are,

Since I had to pay a lot of extra money to create my own stamps, I'm not sure yet whether to use them or not. Oh well, it was fun to create them anyhow. Isn't everything what's got to do with David worth every bit of all the money?  *grins*

RingCon

What can I say about my weekend at the RingCon in Germany.
It's been a week now and I'm still sorting out all my pics and videos.

After Craig Parker's and Karl Urban's cancellation I didn't feel like going to Fulda anymore. Because of that to me the whole event didn't seem interesting enough anymore.

Nevertheless I had a wonderful time, in particular with the John Noble panel. He's such an interesting and charming man. It was great to hear him speak about his love for theater. He also did quite a lot of research for his role of Denethor by which he completely understood what was going on through this man's mind.

Andy Serkis arrived on Saturday and only stayed for his turn of the panel, the autograph session and the photo opts. Too bad he didn't stay longer.

I also found out that Jed Brophy's (who played several orcs in the LotR trilogy) son, played Arwen's and Aragorn's son in the Return of the King.
I think that's quite a nice trivial detail. ;-)

Despite Craig Parker's absence Mark Ferguson tried as hard as he could and thanks to him, Lori Dungey, Thomas Robins, Jed Brophy and Jonathan Harding, who had much fun on stage, the whole event turned out to be one of my best RingCon's in three years.

Next year it'll be in Bonn and I'm already looking forward to it. Hopefully with David Wenham, whose attendance I've missed two years back  . . . . !!!

Loreena Mc Kennitt Concert

Last night I went to a concert of the Canadian singer/songwriter Loreena McKennitt.
It was one of the most excellent concerts I've been to in many years. For those who don't know who she is, her music is characterized by Celtic and Arab influences. She can be compared to Enya, although she's got her own style.
I always feel completely relaxed when I listen to her music.

Her live performance was amazing, her voice is so pure. She also did an excellent job by playing the piano, harp and accordion. Her band consists of nine musicians, who were very skilled with playing several instruments as well. They also made use of some foreign instruments like e.g. celtic bouzouki and greek lute.

To learn more about Loreena McKennitt, you can take a look
